About Kendra Dawe

Practice Founder | Registered Counselling Therapist-Candidate | Canadian Certified Counsellor

Journey

My path towards the counselling therapy profession came to fruition shortly after my own personal experiences led me to discover the deeply meaningful and life changing impacts of counselling therapy. I always knew I enjoyed connecting with people and had the privilege of working with individuals in a variety of settings as a recreation therapy professional for years. As I recognized the profound effects that counselling therapy could offer, in addition to how the transferable skills I developed from my background in recreation therapy could support this career transition, I swiftly started my pursuit towards becoming a counselling therapist. Since earning my provincial designation and national certification, I worked as a counselling therapist for a non-for-profit organization prior to shifting my focus solely to private practice.

Approach

I pull from a plethora of therapeutic modalities to deliver an integrative approach that considers the whole person. I am intentional in getting to know the unique qualities of each individual and strive to support movement towards collaboratively determined therapeutic intentions. My therapeutic approach is rooted in relational counselling that incorporates strength-based, body-centered, emotion-focused, solution-focused, and person-centered therapies. Most notably, I hold space to support whatever we come in contact with during our time together.
